Which taxes and charges are included in the rent?

The all-inclusive package covers all car hire-related taxes, charges and levies. These include, amongst others:

  • Airport fees.
  • Airport tax
  • local taxes on rentals
  • local taxes on all services included
  • any further local charges and levies in accordance with the Special Terms and Conditions of Tenancy

These costs are already included in the total price.

What additional costs might be incurred?

The hire price includes all taxes, charges and levies relating to the hire car. In addition, additional costs may arise in certain cases. These include, for example:

  • statutory government levies such as environmental charges, tourist charges or tourism taxes
  • optional extras such as a child seat, a sat-nav or a one-way hire

Government levies are imposed by a region, authority or public body and apply equally to all providers and travellers. Where statutory requirements stipulate that payment must be made on site, these amounts cannot form part of the prepaid rent.

Charges for optional extras will only apply if you book these services in addition to your package. You will be provided with information on any additional costs during the booking process and in the relevant rental terms and conditions.

Where local government charges are known, these are clearly stated before the booking is made.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Why aren’t environmental charges or tourism taxes included in the rental price?

In some destinations, statutory charges are levied; these are set by public authorities or public bodies and are charged directly to travellers. If local regulations stipulate that such a charge must be paid exclusively on site, it cannot be included in the rent.

However, we make standard government charges clear and transparent at the time of booking. This way, you’ll know in good time what additional costs, if any, you may need to pay whilst you’re there.
