What does the vehicle theft protection cover?
We know that a stolen rental car is the last thing you want to have to deal with when you’re on holiday. But the possibility can never be completely ruled out. At Sunny Cars, however, we want to make sure that you can enjoy your holiday to the full. As mentioned above, theft insurance without an excess is included in our all-round carefree services. This means that we will reimburse you for all costs incurred if the rental car is stolen.

Refund of the excess in the event of theft of the rental car?
In the event of theft, the deposit paid when picking up the rental car is retained by the local vehicle fleet provider. We will of course reimburse you for all costs incurred. When you get home, you can simply specify the costs and our customer support will ensure that you get the money back as quickly as possible!

Do you need additional theft insurance on-site?
The answer is very clear: No, you do not need to take out any additional theft insurance on-site. With a rental car from Sunny Cars, optimal vehicle theft insurance is already included. So you don’t have to deal with taking out additional insurance on-site.
What should you do in the event of theft?
If your rental car is stolen, stay calm. Inform the local vehicle fleet provider immediately. You can find the relevant phone number on your voucher, for example, or attached to the keyring. The local provider will tell you what steps you should take in this situation. Make sure to report the theft officially to the police.
A tip: make sure that you hold on to the report form and make a copy. Provide the original to the local vehicle fleet provider and keep the copy for your own records.

What can you do to avoid theft of the rental car?
During your well-earned holiday, theft of your rental car is the last thing that you want to worry about. But how can you prevent theft? Here are a few tips on how you can help prevent theft of the rental car:
- Before leaving the rental car, make sure that all doors and windows are locked properly. Always take the car keys with you, and keep them in a safe place.
- When looking for a parking space, choose safe, well-lit areas. Avoid isolated and unsafe areas, especially at night.
- Don’t leave any valuables in view in the vehicle. Instead, lock them in the boot or take them with you when you leave the rental car.
- Check whether the rental car has a burglar alarm or an immobiliser. Activate these functions to deter potential thieves.
