What is included in the car rental price?
All the necessary insurances and additional costs are included in the car rental price at Sunny Cars. Therefore there are no additional charges on site! The following is always included:
- Unlimited mileage
- Comprehensive insurance without your own contribution in case of damages
even for damages to glass, the roof, tyres and the undercarriage
- Automobile theft insurance without your own contribution
- Insured liability amount unlimited in many countries
but at least to the amount of EUR 7.5 million
- All local taxes
- Airport pick-up
- Airport fees
- You do not need to take out any other insurance on site.
- In many cases, hotel deliveries or one-way drop-off charges are included in
the rental price.

I would like to rent a particular type of car. Is that possible?
We only guarantee the category of the rental car. The models presented are examples so that you can see what types of car are in this category. Naturally all of our rental cars are quality cars.
What is the minimum age required to drive a rental car?
The minimum age for renting a car is usually 21. However, the age limit may vary according
to category and destination. At some destinations the age limit can be reduced to 18. For
this purpose supplementary insurance must be taken out. You can read about what minimum
age is applicable and whether a reduction of the age limit is possible in the section Booking Information. If it is possible, you can arrange for this on site. Quickly and easily.
Is there a maximum age?
Read carefully the rental conditions for your selected destination; at some destinations there is an upper age limit.
May other persons drive my rental car?
Yes, this is possible in nearly all countries. Frequently an additional driver is included. If not, then an additional fee is charged for this. Check the renting conditions in this regard. Please note! The other driver(s) must also sign the rental contract on site.
Can I drive the rental car into another country?
Yes, in many countries you may drive your rental car across the border. Sometimes a special authorisation of the car rental agency is required in other countries. In some countries an additional fee is charged for border crossings with the rental car. Read your rental conditions to find out what is possible at your holiday destination. Picking up and dropping of a rental car
What documents do I need to pick up my rental car?
When the rental car is picked up, the main driver must present a valid driving licence, a passport and the voucher from Sunny Cars. At some destinations, a credit card in the name of the main driver is also required.
I would like to pick up the car outside of office hours, is that possible? Yes, we offer this additional service at most locations. In isolated cases, a small additional fee may be required. Can I drop off the rental car outside of office hours?
Yes, at most locations you can also drop off the rental car outside of office hours. When you pick up the rental car, discuss with the local rental agency where you can drop the car off. This is often a location at which you can park the car and place the keys in a drop-off box. Tip: please take care to remove all personal belongings from the car before you lock the car and drop the keys in the box!
Is it possible to drop off the rental car at another location? Yes, you can of course indicate a different drop-off location. This is termed a one-way rental. Some rental partners, however, do require an additional fee for this which you must pay on site. More information about the possibilities and costs is to be found in the rental conditions. I would like to take over the rental car at my hotel, is this possible? Yes, in most cases we can arrange this for you. When making your booking, indicate that you want to take over the rental car at your hotel or apartment. Specify the name and address of your accommodations. When the local lessor brings you the rental car arrange with him when you want to drop the car off. If, for example, you also want to drop the car at the hotel, the employees of the rental partner will collect the car there. More information about the possibilities for pick-up and the respective costs is to be found in the rental conditions.
Must I return the car with full tank or empty tank?
In most cases you pick up the rental car with the tank full. Then you must also return the car with the tank full. Sometimes however, another arrangement may apply such as empty at pick-up and empty at drop-off. The arrangement which applies for your booking is clearly indicated on the information sheet which you receive along with your travel documents.
Insurances and what you should know about them
What types of insurance do I need to drive a rental car?
At Sunny Cars all the necessary insurances are included as standard in a practical service
package. So you don't need to worry about this. An insured liability amount of at least EUR 7.5 million as well as comprehensive cover and automobile theft insurance are always included.
What does comprehensive cover protection mean?
Comprehensive cover protection covers damages to the rental car as a result of one's own fault. This insurance is always included at Sunny Cars and is without your own contribution.
What is automobile theft insurance?
Theft insurance covers the costs of the theft of the rental car, without the objects and luggage to be found within the car. This insurance is always included at Sunny Cars in the rental price and is without your own contribution.
What is personal passenger insurance?
Passenger insurance covers personal injury to all the passengers of the rental car, even if they are not indicated on the travel insurance.
What is liability insurance?
Liability insurance covers the damages which are suffered by third parties. The coverage sum of the liability insurance amounts to a guaranteed sum of EUR 7.5 million. At Sunny Cars this insurance is always included.
What about the contribution of one's own?
In case of an accident, you pay no contribution of your own with Sunny Cars. We often include this as standard in the rental conditions. But there are certain countries in which a contribution of your own applies locally to the comprehensive cover insurance (damages to the rental car) and to the automobile theft insurance. In this case Sunny Cars assumes payment of this amount. If you have an accident, you must pay your own contribution on site. You can then demand reimbursement of this amount from us after you return from your trip. What amount is covered for damages to glass, the roof, tyres and the undercarriage?
At Sunny Cars reimbursement for damages to glass, the roof, tyres and the undercarriage is included as standard. Did a stone hit the windscreen or did you have a flat tyre? No problem! Sunny Cars assumes these costs completely. However, you must first pay the amount of the damages on site. When you're back home you can simply demand repayment. Please check the rental conditions regarding these points.
Changes & cancellations
Can I change the rental car category after I've made the booking?
Yes, naturally, and this is free of charge at Sunny Cars. But please note that you inform us of this at least 24 hours before start of the rental period.
Can I extend the rental period?
Yes, Sunny Cars is flexible. You can simply extend the rental period or adjust it. You can also book a different car category and even change the destination. Depending upon the change effected a slight additional charge may be required. Please inform us of the change at least 24 hours before start of the rental period.
I want to cancel, how do I go about this?
In the event that you must cancel the booking unexpectedly you can do so up until the pick
up time of the rental car which was agreed upon. You cannot cancel with the local rental agency, you must do so through your travel agency or through Sunny Cars.
- up to five days before the rental starts: EUR 25.-
- starting from five days up to the day the rental starts: EUR 50.-
- on the day the rental starts: 100 %
You can insure yourself against cancellation costs for only EUR 0.50 per day (but at least EUR 3.50). If you take advantage of this opportunity, the reservation can be cancelled without statement of a reason and free of charge prior to start of car rental - without any additional costs.
What is a "no show"?
If you are not present to take over your rental car at the time agreed upon then we call this
a "no show". In this case, we charge 100 % of the costs.
How can I effect payment?
You can pay either with credit card or by bank debit transfer. Sunny Cars debits the invoice amount two weeks before the rental starts.
How is the deposit arranged?
The amount of the deposit usually corresponds to the cost of a tankful or approximately EUR 300. Depending upon the local partner you can pay this amount in cash or by credit card.
If you arrange to pay the deposit by credit card, the amount is requested/blocked on your credit card. The amount is not debited to your account.
If you return the rental car in the same condition it was in when you picked it up, the rental partner will release the blocked amount. Please note: because of the blocked amount your disposition limit is lower. Also remember this when you use your credit card.

Are my personal data and my bank data protected in the Internet?
Of course! Sunny Cars handles your personal data in a careful and confidential manner. In order to protect you, our customer, we use exclusively safe coding technologies. Your personal data is encoded with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. Your encoded data cannot be viewed by others. After entry of your data it is sent to our server. Your data is only visible to you and to our server - guaranteed.
Will I incur additional costs on site?
No, at Sunny Cars no additional costs arise. All that you need is contained in our all-inclusive rental price. An additional fee is charged only in the event of additional services such as hotel delivery, one-way rentals or the renting of a child seat. These charges must be paid on site. You can inform yourself about the costs involved with these extra services in the rental conditions which you get with the voucher/rental car coupon.
Breakdowns & accidents
I had a breakdown. What now?
Most of our leasing agencies offer a 24-hour service which you can call in emergencies.
The respective telephone number is to be found on the rental contract and/or in the brochure of our rental partner. Tip: ask about this when you pick up the rental car.
If the rental agency cannot help you, for whatever reason, you can always contact the reservation centre at Sunny Cars. Call us at +49 (089) 82 99 33 900. Our employees will
then attempt to solve the problem for you.
I caused damages to the rental car. Which documents must now be issued? Call the police and have a police report prepared. Without a police report you are considered to be responsible for the damages to the rental car. Therefore insist upon a report even if the police say that it is not necessary. Also report directly to the rental agency from which you picked up the car that you had an accident. You can find the telephone number on the voucher under pick-up location (take-over location).
I caused damages to the rental car. Can I have a new rental car?
If there are damages to the rental car, always report this directly to the local partner or to Sunny Cars. A mutual agreement will be reached as to whether you continue driving with the rental car concerned or whether you will receive a new rental car. If it is apparent from the type of accident you had that careless driving of the rental car was involved, the local partner may refuse to offer you a replacement car.
What is a one-way rental?
It is often possible to pick up your rental car at one rental location and to drop it off at another. We call this a one-way rental. This service is free of charge starting from a
3-day rental period at many popular destinations. At other locations an additional fee may
What is a hotel delivery? Would you rather take over your rental car at your hotel or apartment instead of picking it up at the airport? No problem - Sunny Cars offers you this service.
What is a drop-off box? A drop-off box is a mailbox on the parking lot to which you can return your rental car outside of office hours. You can drop the car keys into the box.
What is "meet & greet" or representation? Some Sunny Cars partners do not have a rental counter at the airport. In this case you receive the car keys and the rental contract from an employee of our partner directly on site. In some destination areas you will be brought by shuttle service directly from the airport to the rental station. You meet the employee of the respective rental agency at an agreed upon location; we call this "meet & greet" or representation.
What is a single vehicle accident?
A single vehicle accident is a one-sided traffic accident. This means that only your rental car was involved in the accident. There is no second party involved; the accident was thus caused by the driver himself.
What is the 24-hour rule?
A rental day has 24 hours. Your rental car must be dropped off at the latest at the same time as the time when you picked it up. This is clearly stated in your rental contract. If you drop off the rental car too late, the costs per day will be passed on to you.
Let us assume you rent a car from 1 July till 7 July. You pick up the rental car at 1.30 pm. Then you can use the rental car an entire week until at the latest 1.30 pm on 7 July: then you must return it. Contact Do you have more questions? Our friendly reservation team will be glad to assist you.
